For most of us, our best morning routine starts with a hot cup of coffee. It is what most people look forward to in the morning, that extra jolt that gets us going. However, at times, even a hot cup of coffee cannot make us enthusiastic about a brand new day. Sometimes that is not enough. This is how my mornings had been until recently when I had an epiphany. I had a realization about how I can start my mornings without needing extra caffeine and on the right note.
While traveling this past week, I had a truly life-changing experience. It is one of those experiences when you know without a doubt that there is a shift in your consciousness. A shift in your being that is undeniable. Have you ever had that feeling?
I will be honest here. For the past few months, I have been feeling uneasy. Unsettled and uncertain. And well, at times unhappy. Why? Because I was not being honest with myself. I have been sharing healthful information with all of you. To inspire you to be true to your vision for yourself, to acknowledge your power and greatness. Despite all this, I was consciously and subconsciously suffocating mine.
Even though I have spent years deconstructing the habits and thoughts that were not serving my health and happiness, the pieces and remnants are still hanging around. And for the past few months, they have been trying to piece themselves back together.
Like when my melanoma was rearing its ugly head, my mind, body, and spirit were shouting at me that I was out of alignment. Out of touch with my passion and purpose. Yet, I was totally deaf to it.
Until this week. At this event. I.heard.myself! FINALLY!
And in the following months, I will be stepping back into it, back into my vision, mission, and purpose. And I will share this journey with you. That is because YOU are a huge part of my WHY.
One of the biggest AHA moments contributing to my going off the rails was I realized I had let my morning routine go by the wayside. And by the wayside, I mean off the cliff.
Do you have a morning routine? Because the best morning routine leaves you feeling rejuvenated throughout the day.
When I start my days with a few simple steps, the positive shift in my outlook and energy is palpable. That is why I am committed to getting back on track. I share these with hopes that you experience the same.
THE THREE SIMPLE STEPS FOR A BEST MORNING ROUTINE
I. Create
Before getting out of bed in the morning, while my eyes are still closed, I decide the three emotions I want to experience that day. For example, my favs are calm, inspired, and loving. Setting up my intention for how I want to feel, enables me to navigate the choices I make throughout the day. These choices help me create and experience those emotions. For instance, scrolling through social media and seeing everyone else’s highlights isn’t going to keep me calm or inspired. It is going to send me right to anxiety and overwhelm. For this reason, I avoid scrolling through social media first thing in the morning. By focusing on the three emotions you want to experience for the day, you can anchor yourself in your intention. You will soon begin to notice how this little practice sets you up for emotional success
Tip: Write these on post-it notes and plaster them all over the places you spend the most time.
II. Celebrate
As a fickle journalist, sometimes I love to journal, other times not so much. Therefore, to create consistency and make it as easy as possible, I found that I could commit to at least 5 minutes a day to journaling. To acknowledge all the good in my life without having to write a novel (although I could write one, I have so much for which to be thankful). That is why I am a huge fan of the 5 Minute Journal. Just 5 minutes at the start of the day is all it takes to make journaling a habit.
III. Cultivate
The definition of cultivating is to nurture and help grow. To ensure I experience the emotions I want to create, I need to set myself up for success. And nourishing my mind and body is beyond just food (though it is fun creating recipes in the kitchen. For me, this is calming and inspiring🤩). That said, I can not always dive into culinary creation mode first thing in the morning! So the next best thing is arming myself with nutrients that instantly calm me down, like those found in Designs For Health Neurocalm.
Designed to promote the activity of neurotransmitters GABA and serotonin, these nutrients support healthy moods and cravings. Additionally, they promote feelings of calm, satiety, and satisfaction. Right now, their liposomal version for instant bioavailability has been a game-changer for me. This liposomal version is instantly absorbed into the bloodstream, readily bringing about its calming effects. And what is a better way to begin your best morning routine; than cultivating calming and stress-free thoughts?
Cheers to starting your day on a positive note!
